How They Met
Almost 8 years ago I met Aaron. It’s kind of funny to think how our two completely different lives ended up bringing us together. We were two people who could have lived our entire lives having never crossed paths. It was October of 2013. I was 23 years old and I was trying desperately to make a life for myself. I was working as a beauty advisor at a local store and I was very hard working and out going. I started to form regular clients who knew me by name and often came in and requested for me to help them with their beauty needs. One of those customers was Aaron’s mother, Mrs Tara. She would always come in to look for make up and would always make it a point to tell me how overly helpful I was. The last time she came in to shop with me she handed me Aaron’s business card telling me that he was a manager at another local store and that he could really use someone like me on his team. I took the card very appreciative but didn’t really think I was in the place to switch jobs at the time. After about 3 weeks I randomly came across the business card with the words Tara’s son written across it. (I still have the card in a memory box to this day). Stumbling across the card was like it was a reminder that I should call, so I did. I interviewed and I got the job. I worked alongside Aaron for just a few short months before another amazing Career opportunity presented itself. During my time working with Aaron I noticed him more and more as the time went by. Not things like wow he’s so attractive or he has great hair more so the care and passion he had for helping overs and his ability to always see good in any situation. Once I left I found myself wondering how he was doing and missing little things like walking into the store and saying good morning and hearing him laugh. I decided to go out on limb and reached out to see if he would want to hang out with some of our old friends from work. The first two times I reached out he was busy but the third time was the charm. We all met at our friend Andrews house to have dinner and watch movies. I was so nervous I barely talked to him. He could definitely tell but he is shy also so he waited till we left that night and called me to see if everything was ok. For the first time in my life I decided to be so direct. I blurted out I don’t know how to talk to you… I really like you Aaron. The next few seconds were the scariest moment of my life… Silence… then he with so much excitement in his voice said Lacy, I really like you too! From that day on I have been his and he has been mine.
The proposal was many years down the road and we by no means took the traditional route. Aaron and I have two young boys that we absolutely adore so of course he included them in the proposal and it was so adorable! He took me to what I thought I was just another date night dinner. We got dressed up and dropped off the boys to Mimis (Mrs Tara) and then on the way he randomly says babe would you want to stop by Sugar Mill Pond to take a picture, your dressed so nice and we hardly ever go on date nights alone. I thought nothing of it so we stopped. We get to the gazebo and he pulls out his phone to take pictures or so I thought. He hands me the phone and tells me to press play. He had a created a whole video with highlights of our love story… The very end of the video was the two boys…saying please marry our daddy.
I had dreamed of that moment my whole life and it was so much more than I could have ever dreamed of.
I didn’t really have a whole lot of input about the ring shape or size except that if he proposed that it be one of a kind and that it be designed locally by Dianna Rae Jewelry. Thats exactly what he did and I love my ring. It is timeless and classy. One pear shaped diamond in yellow gold. I LOVE IT!
