How They Met
Ryan and I met through his brother and my best friend who were dating at the time. They are now married, and we served as Best Man and Maid of Honor in their wedding last year. One day, we began talking and immediately hit it off. We had so much in common, and I knew from the start that we were perfect for each other. Our first official date was an Incubus concert and, believe it or not, each date since then has been even more exciting!
We had been planning a weekend trip to Houston for the Shriners College Classic to watch LSU Baseball for almost a year. When the trip finally came around at the end of February, I was so excited and had no idea what Ryan had planned. Once we got there, we checked into the hotel and planned to go walk around the Discovery Green Park downtown then go eat at a nearby restaurant before the game that night. Our friends met us there. It was a beautiful day and we went walking around the park taking fun pictures. My friend kept bringing us to different spots around the park looking for the perfect backdrop and lighting and I couldn’t figure out why. Eventually, Ryan and I posed for a picture and he looked at me, trying to get my attention. Again, I’m completely clueless at this point. I look at him and he says, “You know I love you, right?” and I say, “I love you too, but why are you saying that right now?” As he gets down on one knee, it finally hits me. I was speechless and had to nod “YES!!” The rest of the weekend was a blur. We were joined at the LSU games by my parents and our friends, so we got to celebrate all weekend. A few weeks before the proposal, Ryan drove all the way from Leesville to my dad’s work in Baton Rouge and back to ask his permission (a total of 6 hours in the car!) He had also been making several two-hour trips to Dianna Rae Jewelry to design the ring. I couldn’t believe how much he had done to make the proposal perfect and how well he kept it a secret from me!
The ring is a gorgeous oval diamond with smaller diamonds set in a rose gold band. Ryan designed the ring himself with the help of Preston at Dianna Rae Jewelry. I never wanted to pick out my own ring, so the ring was a total surprise to me. The thing I love most about the ring is that Ryan put so much thought into it and it’s unique to me. He even had it engraved on the inside with a sweet message that we often tell each other. It is absolutely perfect and more beautiful than anything I could have imagined myself! I get compliments on it daily and I cannot stop staring at it!
