What is it?
Our precious metals include 10K, 14K, and 18K Yellow, Rose and White Gold, as well as Platinum. All classic bands are cut from precious metal tubing made through hot extrusion. Hot extrusion is a complex process that results in a precious metal that is easier to stretch and size, has zero porosity, and is more dense. This type of metal processing creates an unparalleled precious metal ring. In addition to gold and platinum’s unique properties and uses, both are inherently beautiful metals with natural lusters and colors unlike any other material. These characteristics, in combination with their rarity, has made their value so great that we now casually refer to them as precious metals.
Gold is one the most conductive materials on earth. Its unique properties make it perfect for use in everything from high-tech electronics to coating on deep-space telescope mirrors, and Olympic medals. Gold’s ability to be molded, shaped and carved into intricate designs has made it a popular metal for use in jewelry over the centuries. Gold is measured in karats (K). Karats refer to the purity of gold, with 24K being the most pure. Interestingly, pure gold is rarely used in jewelry because it is so soft. Gold is typically mixed with other metals to make it stronger and more durable for everyday wear. We offer 10K, 14K, and 18K gold for precious metal bands.
Platinum is considered a noble metal due to its incredible resistance to corrosion, making it ideal for a range of exotic uses from laboratory equipment to platinum-based chemotherapy drugs. Platinum is a relatively new member of the precious family. It is rare and pure, being measured in terms of its percentage of purity. To be called platinum, an item should be at least 50% pure platinum. We use the highest quality platinum available, registering at 95% purity. Platinum’s most appealing characteristic, however, is its unchanging white color. It wears very well over time, especially in comparison to other precious metals. It can develop a patina of wear, a unique and desired attribute to platinum.
