Tell us how you met.
We both swiped right LITERALLY. I met Lane on Bumble! In the summer of 2022 I was going through a rough patch with relationships and my best friends encouraged me to get on Bumble just for fun. In September I matched with Lane and thought “well let’s see what happens”. I am originally from a small town in central Louisiana and Lane is from Lafayette so rightfully so I made this man drive to Alexandria to take me out on our first date because I was so scared to go to him first. That was on a Friday. Our first date lasted about 3 hours and we immediately made plans that involved me driving down the next day, Saturday, to see him in Lafayette. At the time, lane worked in Pennsylvania for Halliburton and would only come back home every other 2 weeks. I still lived at home with my parents and worked at LSUA. I guess you could say we were in a long to medium distance relationship depending on the week Soon after it got serious, I started looking for university jobs at UL. *insert invisible string* Coincidentally, my boss at the time had a connection to someone at UL whose department was looking for an academic advisor, the job I was currently doing. In May 2023 I decided to go for it and make the move to Lafayette for the job and I have never looked back. Lane being here was just a plus In the 3 years we have been together we have shared an apartment, a lot of time driving back and forth to see each other, a yorkie, a new house, and countless memories since we started dating. All thanks to an app!

Tell the story of your proposal.
Leading into Labor Day weekend Lane and I went on a vacation to Hot Springs, Arkansas. I had a very growing suspicion he was going to propose for many reasons I will leave unsaid but it all worked out for the better. On the very last full day of our trip we went to Garvan Woodland Gardens and right as we were about to leave he pulled me onto a secluded trail and proposed! (I hate attention and he knew I didn’t want random people seeing this so it was monumental to have this moment just for us). As we traveled home we stopped off at my parents house to grab our dog and to my “surprise” there was our immediate family and friends waiting for us to celebrate!

Tell us about the ring!
I had 0 expectations as to what I wanted an engagement ring to look like so I needed to go and try on for myself. I had always thought I wanted oval cut but soon learned that was not for me. We started trying on emerald cuts and i immediately loved the way it looked on my finger. I have always been a gold girl so knew I wanted a gold band and a simple diamond and that is exactly what I got! We settled on a hidden halo and I left Lane with the task of surprising me with what would be on the side and I’m so happy he picked baguettes. Those were my favorites!

Our wedding will be taking place at Bayou Haven in Alexandria, Louisiana this September on Labor Day weekend.
