How They Met

Preston and Katie met through their small group at church. Katie was a graduate student at ULL while Preston was working at Dianna Rae Jewelry. With the help of a newborn nephew and an 8 week old puppy Katie says she was hooked! In her words, “a man who loves his family and animals is a man worth keeping.

The Proposal

Preston proposed to Katie on a trip to Colorado on June 3rd, 2019. They woke up at 4 A.M. and traveled to Rocky Mountain National Park and he proposed while watching the sunrise from “on top of the world”.

The Ring

Katie absolutely loves everything about the ring! Surprisingly, Preston and Katie didn’t design the ring together. The ring was a complete surprise to her, but she says it was the best surprise ever and she wouldn’t change one thing about it. She wanted a round diamond shape because of its classic look. She loves that Preston added a double halo that are different sizes to add more dimension. She loves all the tiny details, from the floral under gallery to the double halo, and most of all she loves the fact that she feels like a princess when she wears it!

The Wedding

Preston and Katie’s wedding was nothing like they would have ever imagined but became an unforgettable day. They began planning their dream wedding as soon as they were engaged. They diligently selected vendors who they were excited to work with and help make their wedding vision a reality. They planned to get married March 29th, 2020. Leading into March everything was planned, prepared, and booked, but COVID-19 threw a wrench into their plans. In the weeks leading up to the big day the government had announced that all public gatherings should be limited to 50 people, and then later limited to 10 people and travel was strongly discouraged around the United States. Preston and Katie then had to make the difficult decision to cancel their “dream wedding” in order to protect the safety of their family, friends, and community. Instead of waiting to postpone the ceremony, they decided to make quick plans to move the ceremony to a week earlier than planned and  have a small ceremony.

On the day of the wedding, March 22, 2020, Preston and Katie were married on a small path at Lake Martin in Breaux Bridge and were joined by a few friends. It was important for them to have family involved so they were able to take part via video call. The ceremony lasted 20 minutes but was filled with love and laughter. Although this wasn’t the day that was originally planned, it was definitely unforgettable and will forever be remembered.
