Tell us how you met.
We had crossed paths before and knew of each other, but our first real date was a Taco Tuesday. What started as dinner turned into hours of conversation and laughter, and it quickly became clear how easy it was to be around each other. From that night on, we kept spending time together and everything grew from there.
Tell the story of your proposal.
The proposal was the biggest, most planned-out surprise ever. A few months beforehand, Tate told me there was a banquet for his work. As it got closer, we went to pick outfits, and he even put a “banquet invite” on our fridge with the time and place. I had no idea what was coming.
We drove to Longue Vue Garden in New Orleans, and I remember saying, “There’s no one here yet,” completely clueless. The employees who were in on the plan handed us a map of the garden, and we started walking down the gravel path. After a short stroll, we turned a corner and walked a little further until we stepped onto a grassy yard, where a photographer was waiting and the most beautiful floral arrangement with a white blanket and it all suddenly clicked. Tate got down on one knee, and I was more surprised than I have ever been in my life.
But the surprises didn’t stop there. Behind a brick wall, my two best friends were filming, and we had an engagement photo session right there. Afterward, Tate gave me my phone with a congratulatory video from my four siblings and my niece and nephews.
Once all that was over, I thought we were just headed to a celebration dinner for the two of us. But when we arrived, our families were there to surprise us! Sharing that incredible engagement dinner with everyone we love made the day even more unforgettable—it truly was the most memorable and beautiful day of our life.
I loved the location so much that after having the proposal photo shoot, we went back and had an engagement photo session there as well.
Tell us about the ring!
About six months before the engagement, we had been ring shopping. I graduated from UL, so I’ve always admired Diana Rae and her work. We took a trip to Lafayette, and that’s where I fell in love with the Audrey. I got to customize and loved the oval shape and the thicker band. It’s classic but still feels completely me, and I couldn’t imagine a more perfect ring.
Tell us about the wedding!
We’re getting married at Felicity in New Orleans, a beautiful old Methodist church that’s now a wedding venue. We love the brick, wood, and stained glass. Our style will be clean and timeless, and we’re excited to celebrate with our family and friends on February 13, 2027.
