At Dianna Rae Jewelry, we enjoy sharing the love stories of our customers because your story is our story. Congratulations to Erik & Catherine, and thank you for sharing your love story with us.
Erik and I met in March of 2021 at the physical therapy clinic he worked at following my ankle injury at Zumba (whoops!). I initially recognized him from a dating app we were both on and asked his coworker who was treating me at the time about him. After she told him about me recognizing him from the app, he approached me and asked for my number. We went on a first date a few days later and the rest is history!
We got engaged in January of 2022 while visiting his family and hometown of El Paso, Texas. He tried to throw me off my suspicion of the engagement happening that weekend by changing his sister’s name in his phone to “Dianna Rae” and having her call him while we were at the airport waiting for our flight. He played it up by frantically walking away from my earshot to take the call and returning with a disappointed look on his face. When I asked him what happened, he told me the engagement ring had been delayed while in production. His plot worked, and I no longer assumed an engagement was happening that weekend. Well, on the trip we took a drive up to the mountain side overlooking the city in what he said was a quick stop before a dinner with his friends. It turned out that’s where he popped the question! Although it was a breezy and chilly winter evening, the sunset over the mountains were a beautiful backdrop for our big moment.
I love every little detail about the ring! I have always had a particular ring design in mind and I never saw anything at other jewelry stores with a similar design. My mom initially found Dianna Rae on Instagram and as soon as I saw the style of rings they had, I knew this was the place that could turn my ring inspiration into reality. I have always gravitated towards rings with delicate, unique details and the ring we designed was all of that and more. I am even more thrilled that Dianna Rae designed my wedding band to match the design of the engagement ring.
