How They Met

Remy and I knew of each other already because we have a ton of mutual friends, but we never had a chance to hang out in person. One night we were both invited to a going away party for a mutual friend of ours. Neither of us honestly felt like going, but we both decided to go anyway (separately). At the party we noticed each other and gravitated towards each other. We talked for a good portion of the night, and from that night on we’ve talked every day since.

The Proposal

The weekend of our proposal actually got off to a rocky start. We planned a weekend friends’ trip to Houston, booked an awesome Airbnb, and bought tickets to go to a museum on the Saturday. On Friday we arrived to Houston, went to lunch, and we explored a little before our check-in time. About 5 minutes prior to check-in, we pulled into the Airbnb driveway and received a text that our Airbnb cancelled on us. We were a group of 14 people, and we had no idea where we were going to stay. We sat around in our cars in gas station parking lots while one of our friends stayed on the phone with Airbnb to try to get our group into a new place. We were all so stressed out! Finally, they found a place for us. Fast forward to Saturday morning. Most of us spent the morning drinking mimosas and hanging out in the hot tub prior to our reserved time at the museum. Funny part is one of our friends mentioned she was curious who the next couple in our friend group would be to get engaged. (She had no idea what was coming). We all got dressed and went to the museum, Seismique. As we were walking around I noticed Remy was wandering around on his own, not hanging out with the group. Turns out he was scoping the place out to find the perfect room/backdrop for the proposal. He finally comes back to the group, and I asked him to take a picture with me. We take a few photos, and he turns to me, kisses me and says “You know I love you right?”. And he did it, he asked me to marry him! I was in shock, the friend group freaked out because they didn’t know he was going to pop the question, and the bystanders cheered for us. It was so perfect, and the best day of my life so far!

The Ring

The main thing Remy knew about my dream ring was that I wanted a marquise cut diamond, and I wanted rose gold. I actually saw the ring on Dianna Rae’s Instagram but in yellow gold. As soon as I saw it my heart dropped. It was the most beautiful ring I’d ever seen! I immediately sent the ring over to my besties, and they of course forwarded it right to Remy. He went through Dianna Rae’s Instagram and noticed it was the only engagement ring picture I had liked, so he decided it was the one. When I saw it for the first time in person I was so surprised, but so happy it was THE RING!
