How They Met

Ross & Dakota were both undergraduates at UL Lafayette studying political science, but they didn’t meet until 2014 when they were studying abroad in London, England. Ross and Dakota introduced themselves, and Ross quickly fell for Dakota’s charm and Dakota for Ross’s wit. While in London, they went on many adventures to museums, palaces, pubs, and numerous historical sites. During these weeks, they found not only a new love for adventure, but a love for each other.

The Proposal

Ross and Dakota love music, food, and culture, and that’s why New Orleans is one of their favorite cities. On September 21, 2018 in a hotel in New Orleans, after dancing the night away at their friends’ wedding, Ross asked Dakota to marry him. Back in 2014, it was at a hotel in New Orleans that Ross first told Dakota that he loved her, so it only felt appropriate to propose in this special city. The proposal was a beautiful moment to add to their list of New Orleans memories.

The Ring

Dakota’s ring is a custom vintage-inspired marquise diamond ring that Ross designed with the help of Dianna Rae. Set in 14 karat white gold, the design was inspired by the Dianna Rae Original, Daisy. In Dakota’s words, “they hit it out of the park!” The ring’s timeless style and design make Dakota feel like royalty whenever she wears it.

The Wedding

Ross & Dakota were married in New Orleans on May 31, 2019! Their wedding and reception took place at Marche’ in the French Market — a beautiful venue with black and white floors, chandeliers, tall french windows, and a surrounding balcony overlooking the French Market and the Mississippi River. Their overall style was elegant, vintage, and moody. Dakota wore an ivory, vintage-inspired dress and silver tiara, while her bridesmaids wore dusty-rose and wine colored dresses. Ross wore a white tuxedo jacket and black pants, while his groomsmen wore classic black tuxedos. After the ceremony, the wedding party and guests celebrated with a second-line, and then used that energy to drink champagne and dance the night away!
